Alan Waters' Lake District Walks

Introduction photo

Scafell Pike from Great Moss

‘Surely there is no other place in this whole wonderful world like Lakeland... no other so exquisitely lovely, no other so charming, no other calls so insistently across a gulf of distance. All who truly love Lakeland are exiles when away from it.’ (A. Wainwright, Introduction, A Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells, Book One, 1955)

This part of my web-site comprises collections of photos, with accompanying ‘blogs’, from walks in the English Lake District, from 2004 onwards - please click on the relevant links above or search for photos.

Please also note that these pages are intended only to provide a very rough idea of some of the attractions of each of the walks. To undertake any of them, the relevant OS or other map is essential, and the information in books such as Wainwright’s “Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells” or Mark Richards’ “Fellranger” series is also strongly recommended. Also, all normal precautions in terms of clothing, equipment, etc. need to be observed, it hopefully goes without saying. Finally, if you enjoy Lake District walks as much as I do, please consider making a donation to the Fix the Fells Project.
