A brief interlude in the recent very rainy and windy weather made this splendid walk possible. Lingmoor Fell straddles the Great and Little Langdales and so provides a wonderful “viewing gallery” of all the major peaks in the vicinity. The route was from Elterwater and back down to it again via the path to Lingmell Tarn from the “col” between the summit and Side Pike. Great views of the Langdale Pikes, Pike o’ Blisco, the Crinkles, Bow Fell, Wetherlam, Great and Little Carrs, Swirl How and the Little Langdale and Blea Tarns. Hard to imagine anywhere else in the Lake District that yields so many spectacular views in return for such little effort! (Distance: 6.16 miles/9.89 km, ascent: 1950 ft/595 m.)
