This walk, my second up this peak this year, was principally in order to savour the view it provides of all the neighbouring ones climbed since the earlier visit (see links from Dove Crag onwards at top of page), a period of time which, fortunately, has enabled me to at last thoroughly explore the manifold delights of Patterdale in a way I had previously foolishly omitted to do. The ascent was from Patterdale village to Boardale Hause*, with a quick diversion from there to just below Angletarn Pikes, in order to admire the unbeatable views of southern Patterdale from above Dubhow Beck. Then back to the Hause and on up to Place fell summit, and eventually back down to near the Ullswater shore at Scalehow Force, and then along from there back to the start. Distance: 9.89 miles/15.9 km; height: 3026 ft./921m.
