Place Fell

Looking towards Ullswater from the crest of the Kirkstone Pass, Place Fell is the most prominent one just beyond and to the right of Brothers’ Water, as shown in the first photo below. It is in many ways to Patterdale what Lingmoor Fell is to the Langdales, i.e., a not too strenuous “viewing gallery” for taking in most of the other highlights of the vicinity. Ascent was from Patterdale via Boardale Hause, and then back down via the Ullswater shoreline. Good views of Deepdale, Grisedale, Glenridding, Glencoyne and attendant fells, especially the Helvellyn range. Distance: 6.29 miles/10.1 km; height: 2292 ft./699m.
