St Sunday Crag

The ascent was via Deepdale to Deepdale Hause, then, because the summit of St Sunday Crag was still covered in cloud, up to Cofa Pike, which was clear. In due course, back down from there to the Hause, then up over St Sunday Crag and down to near the mouth of Grisedale, along the path to Patterdale, and then back via the road to Deepdale Bridge. Once Greenhow End is seen from the floor of Deepdale, this walk is full of very fine rock and mountain scenery, with the cliffs of Fairfield, the steep pinnacle of Cofa Pike and the views from St Sunday Crag over towards Dollywagon and Nethermost Pikes and the remainder of the Helvellyn massif being particularly dramatic. Distance: 7.93 miles/12.8 km; height: 2847 ft./868m.
