Bow Fell is the highest peak in Great Langdale, and sits towards its western end, thus forming something of a “capstone” on this magnificent valley. Ascent was via Mickleden, up Stake Gill and then across to Angel Tarn, thence to Ore gap and the summit. Descent was down to Three Tarns and then the Band. Great views the whole way, especially of the Langdale Pikes and other fells in the vicinity, down Great Langdale, and, at the top, over to the Scafell range. Distance: 8.7 miles/14 km; height: 2,958 ft./902m.
