Gummer’s How & Loughrigg Fell

Gummer’s How and Loughrigg Fell can be thought of (admittedly, rather fancifully!), as twin sentinels, overlooking, respectively, the southern and northern ends of Windermere. The glorious weather on this day, plus only having half of it to spare, meant that I opted for these two peaks, both of which involve minimal ascent but yield maximum viewing. The first was ascended from the nearby Forestry Commission Car Park, returning by the same route, and the second via Fox Gill, returning via Loughrigg Terrace. Gummer's How distance: 2.07km/1.29 miles, height: 165m/543 ft; Loughrigg distance: 7.74 km/4.81 miles, height: 418m/1370 ft.
